Elegant Hand-painted Matcha Bowl with Playful Frogs
This Kyoto-made matcha bowl captures the charm of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware through its hand-painted design inspired by the famous Chōjū-giga scrolls. Each brushstroke conveys a sense of joy and liveliness, reflecting Kyoto’s refined humor and artistry.
The smooth curves formed on the potter’s wheel are complemented by the vivid colors and delicate details of Jyosui Kato’s Iroe (colored overglaze) technique, inherited through generations of Kyoto craftsmanship.

Enjoy the Spirit of the Seasons
Perfect for both tea ceremony and casual use at home, this handcrafted matcha bowl adds a playful touch to your daily tea moments.
The dancing frogs, painted in a classical style, bring to mind the festive energy of spring, while the gentle glaze imparts warmth and elegance to the piece.
Whether used for matcha or displayed as an art object, it invites you to pause, smile, and feel the rhythm of nature.

The Art of Kyoto Overglaze Painting
Jyosui Kato carries forward the spirit of Edo-period Kyoto pottery, capturing the vitality of living creatures and the harmony of nature through expressive brushwork and gentle color tones.
His works are a celebration of Kyoto’s artistic humor — blending tradition, elegance, and a sense of play — into timeless ceramics cherished by collectors and tea lovers alike.
This hand-painted Kyoto matcha bowl is not only functional but also a delightful gift of craftsmanship and joy.
