Luxurious Hand-painted Matcha Bowl from Kyoto
This handmade Kyoto matcha bowl features an opulent design of a phoenix and paulownia flowers painted over a brilliant gold background. Each brushstroke captures the elegance and dignity of traditional Japanese overglaze painting (Iroe).
Created by Jyosui Kato, a master of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware, this bowl embodies the refined aesthetics of Kyoto—where harmony, precision, and grace come together in ceramic art.
The smooth, wheel-thrown form and shimmering gold details create a breathtaking contrast, making this piece an exquisite example of Japanese handmade pottery that bridges art and tradition.

A Bowl for Celebratory and Elegant Occasions
Perfect for both traditional tea ceremonies and festive gatherings, this Kyoto ceramic bowl radiates sophistication and warmth.
Its gleaming gold tone and delicate overglaze details add an air of refinement to any setting, symbolizing prosperity and joy in Japanese culture.
When displayed, the lustrous surface and elegant form create a serene presence that complements both modern and classic interiors.

The Beauty of Kyoto Overglaze Artistry
Jyosui Kato continues the tradition of Edo-period Kyoto ceramics, blending natural motifs and auspicious patterns with sophisticated brushwork and a balanced palette of color and gold.
His work expresses a timeless sense of grace rooted in Kyoto’s ceramic heritage, carried forward through generations of skilled artisans.
This hand-painted matcha bowl is an ideal gift from Japan for collectors, tea lovers, or anyone who cherishes the harmony of art and craftsmanship.
