These celadon-glazed vessels are crafted by Ryuta Takagi, the head of "Iwahanagama," a Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki pottery studio.

Mr. Takagi studied traditional ceramic techniques in Kyoto and then continued his training in Okinawa.

The distinctive blue color is created by a glaze he uniquely blended, based on the experience and sensibilities cultivated in these different regions.

It is a color unique to Ryuta Takagi, born from incorporating the atmosphere and ceramic sensibilities he encountered in Okinawa, while building upon the techniques of Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki.

As the glaze melts and flows in the kiln, a deep blue appears where it accumulates thickly, while a bright, light blue emerges where it is thin. These natural gradations and fluctuations mean that no two pieces are exactly alike.
