Jiucasca handmade pottery Kyoto

Botanical Beauty Rooted in Kyoto's Pottery Tradition

In a quiet residential area in northern Kyoto lies Jiucasca, a new Kiyomizu-ware studio founded by the young ceramic artist Asami Maeda.

Her desire to create pieces that gently enrich daily life, like a “soft and nourishing drizzle,” is embodied in each handmade ceramic work that comes out of her studio.

Inspired by the plants and natural scenes around Mount Hiei, her works feature delicate botanical designs that harmonize beautifully with the refined tradition of Kyoto pottery.

A Fusion of Technical Precision and Artistic Depth

After studying painting and philosophy, Asami Maeda found her path in pottery.

Her broad background fuels a creative voice that respects traditional techniques while breathing a fresh perspective into the world of Kyoto ceramics.

Designed to Bring Comfort to Everyday Dining

“I value the connection between the person who makes and the person who uses” — this philosophy lies at the heart of her work. Each piece is not only visually poetic but thoughtfully made for daily usability.

The soft shapes and calm tones blend effortlessly into everyday meals, offering a quiet elegance that feels comforting in any setting.
