Botanical Designs and Kyo-ware Tradition

"Jiucasca" is a pottery studio nestled in a quiet residential area of Kyoto's Kita Ward.

It is a new Kiyomizu ware studio, named by the young potter Asami Maeda, who hopes to deliver pottery like a "faint gentle rain" (jiu).

The pottery born in the studio, where a pleasant breeze blows through from Mount Hiei, features delicate botanical designs inspired by plants and natural scenery.

From Solid Technique and Deep Sensibility

After studying painting and philosophy, Asami Maeda pursued the path of pottery.

With her colorful background, she expresses pottery with a free sensibility while carefully inheriting traditional techniques, bringing a refreshing breeze to Kyoto's pottery world.

Pottery that Gently Accompanies Your Daily Table

"I want to cherish the relationship between the creator and the user" — pottery born from this sentiment not only boasts aesthetic beauty but also considers daily usability.

The calm colors and soft designs naturally harmonize with your everyday dining table, providing a sense of comfort every time you hold them.

Comment from the Shop Owner

This pottery features beautiful transparency in its bluish-white porcelain, with a flower motif.

It's perfect for serving small sweets like canelés or chocolates, and just adding it to your coffee time will gently brighten your mood.

At the dining table, it's also useful as a dish for salt, soy sauce, or condiments.

It's a piece that adds gentle color to your daily life.
