Handmade sake cup from Kyoto Jiucasca

Botanical Elegance and Kyoto Pottery Tradition

Located in a quiet residential neighborhood in northern Kyoto, Jiucasca is a new ceramic studio that blends tradition and sensitivity.

Founded by young ceramic artist Asami Maeda, the name "Jiucasca" comes from the image of a gentle drizzle—symbolizing her wish to bring quiet beauty into everyday life through her handmade creations.

Inspired by natural landscapes and plant life, her pieces feature delicate botanical designs. Crafted in a studio where the breeze from Mt. Hiei flows through, each work embodies the refined charm of traditional Kyoto pottery.

Refined Technique and Artistic Sensibility

With a background in both painting and philosophy, Asami Maeda brings a thoughtful and intuitive touch to her work.

Respectfully continuing traditional Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-yaki techniques, she reinterprets them with her own perspective—offering a fresh and graceful approach to handmade ceramic art from Kyoto, Japan.
