楽焼は約400年前、千利休の求めによって京都で生まれた焼き物だ。轆轤を使わず手で形を作り、低温・短時間で焼き上げるその技法は、不完全さの中に美を見出す茶の湯の思想を体現している。 京都・山科で約100年続く楽入窯。3代目・吉村楽入は、「用いるための美」を軸にしながら、絵付けによる新しい表現にも取り組んでいる。

茶の湯に根ずく楽茶碗の窯元 京焼・清水焼の中でも、楽焼は特異な位置にある焼き物です。 千利休の茶の湯から生まれ、現在まで続くその技法は、京都の陶芸の中でも独自の流れを形成してきました。 その楽焼の流れの中で、京都に窯を構えるのが楽入窯です。 いわゆる"樂家"とは異なる系譜に属しながらも、約100年にわたり楽茶碗の制作を続けてきました。 もともとは焼き砥石を制作していた家系で、曾祖父の代に楽茶碗を作り始め、祖父の代で本格的に楽焼の窯として確立。現在は3代目・吉村楽入がその流れを引き継いでいます。 実用性を軸とした楽茶碗づくり 楽茶碗は、一般的な陶器とは異なり吸水性があり、強度も高くありません。 そのため用途は限定されますが、茶道においてはその特性が重要な意味を持ちます。 楽入窯では、こうした楽焼本来の性質を前提に、茶道具としての使いやすさを重視した制作が行われています。 形状や重さ、手に取ったときの感覚など、実際に使う場面を意識した器づくりが特徴です。 一方で、制作は単なる再現にとどまりません。 伝統的な技法を踏まえながらも、その中でどのように現代の中で成立させるかが意識されています。 伝統の上に広がる新しい表現 楽入窯のもう一つの特徴が、表現の幅を広げる取り組みです。 成形した土に直接描く「生絵付け」による装飾は、その代表的なものです。 色土を用いたやわらかな色合いと立体感は、低温焼成という楽焼の特性を活かした独自の表現です。 これらの作品は「楽入印」として展開され、伝統的な無地の楽茶碗とは異なる魅力を持ちながら、現代の暮らしにも取り入れやすい器として提案されています。 一方で、主宰の吉村さん本人による「萬福堂」の作品では、より伝統的な楽焼の本質を追求。 さらに工房全体で制作する「楽入窯」ブランドも含め、それぞれ役割を分けることで、伝統と新しい表現の両立が図られています。 楽焼という限られた分野の中で、実用性を軸にしながらも表現の可能性を広げていく。 楽入窯は、現在の楽焼における一つのあり方を示す存在といえます。 作家プロフィール|吉村 楽入(よしむら らくにゅう) 京都・山科にて楽入窯を主宰する楽焼作家。約100年続く楽入窯の3代目として、茶道具としての実用性を重視した楽茶碗の制作を行う。 楽入窯...
