Graduated from Kyoto Fushimi High School, Department of Ceramics, in 1955
Studied pottery under his father, Seiichi Oketani, a ceramic artist of the Nitten Exhibition
Member of the Japan Kōgei Association
Member of the Kyoto Fine Arts and Crafts Artists Association
Silver Prize at the Kyoto Craft Exhibition
Excellence Award at the Kyoto Arts and Crafts Exhibition
Recipient of 10 awards at the Japan Traditional Kōgei Kinki Exhibition
Selected three times for the Japan Traditional Kōgei Exhibition
