About the Artist

Hiroshi Oketani (Second Generation Seiichi Oketani)

  • Born in 1935 in the traditional pottery district of Higashiyama, Kyoto
  • Graduated from Kyoto Fushimi High School, Department of Ceramics
  • Trained under his father, renowned ceramic artist Seiichi Oketani
  • Recipient of Silver Award at the Kyoto Craft Exhibition
  • Winner at the Kyoto Arts and Crafts Exhibition
  • Multiple awards in various Kyoto exhibitions
  • Selected ten times for the Kinki Region Traditional Crafts Exhibition
  • Selected three times for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition
