Realistic, yet somehow endearing.
Take a moment to relax with your favorite cup.
Takanobu Sawada is a potter with a studio in a satoyama (rural landscape) in Nantan City, Kyoto.
Surrounded by rich natural scenery, he creates vessels adorned with animals that are realistic yet warm.
Each piece is carefully shaped, with forms carved out to ensure ease of use when held.
The soft, milky white slipware base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that convey the warmth of handcrafted work
The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush but are expressed by scratching away the slipware base.
Each line has movement, resulting in a finish that conveys unique artistry and warmth.
Takanobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto-Kiyomizu ware potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has over 20 years of experience.
At just over 30 years old, he is a craftsman with solid skills, having reached the level of a veteran.

Sawada, with his youthful sensibility and refined technique, creates unique vessels that are distinctly Kyoto-style.
We invite you to experience their charm in your daily life.

Comment from the Owner
This rice bowl is just the right size for everyday dining.
It is made slightly deeper than typical bowls, making it easy to hold and preventing rice from spilling even when filled generously.
The soft white of the slipware and the expressive animal drawings create a comforting feeling with every use.
With its timeless, simple design, it can be used as a daily utensil for many years to come.
