Realistic yet somehow adorable.
Take a break with your favorite cup.
Takunobu Sawada is a potter who has a studio in a satoyama (rural landscape) in Nantan City, Kyoto.
Surrounded by rich nature, he creates vessels with warm, realistic animal designs.
Each piece is carefully shaped and carved to be easy to hold.
The soft milky-white kohiki (powdered clay slip) base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that convey the warmth of handcraftsmanship
The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush but created by scraping away the kohiki base.
Each line has movement, resulting in a finish that conveys unique artistry and warmth.
Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto ware/Kiyomizu ware potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has already been creating pottery for 20 years.
At 30, he is a craftsman with solid skills, having reached the level of a veteran.

Sawada-san combines youthful sensibility with refined technique to create original vessels unique to Kyoto.
Please experience their charm in your daily life.
