Botanical Design Rooted in the Tradition of Kyo-ware
Located in a quiet residential neighborhood of northern Kyoto, Jiucasca is a new Kiyomizu-ware ceramic studio founded by young artisan Asami Maeda.
The name Jiucasca comes from the idea of a "gentle, nourishing drizzle" — reflecting Maeda’s desire to craft handmade pottery that enriches everyday life in subtle and thoughtful ways.
Each piece is created in her studio where the breeze from Mount Hiei carries inspiration from nature. These delicate ceramic works are infused with botanical beauty and the refined heritage of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

Refined Technique Meets Artistic Sensibility
After studying painting and philosophy, Maeda turned to ceramics — bringing a unique perspective to her practice as a potter.
With a strong foundation in traditional Kyoto pottery techniques, she blends inherited skills with her own creative voice, contributing a fresh breeze to Japan’s ceramic scene.

Pottery That Complements Everyday Living
“I care deeply about the relationship between the maker and the user.” Guided by this philosophy, her creations are both elegant and practical for daily use.
Soft shapes and calm, timeless colors blend effortlessly with any table setting — adding a sense of calm and warmth to your everyday meals.
