Elegant Hand-painted Matcha Bowl from Kyoto
This handmade Kyoto matcha bowl features a white camellia motif delicately emerging from a subdued gray glaze. The soft tones and refined overglaze painting express the quiet beauty of Japanese traditional pottery.
Each brushstroke captures the artist’s deep sensibility, reflecting the elegant atmosphere of Kyoto through harmony and restraint.
The gently rounded form, shaped by hand on the potter’s wheel, is a testament to Jyosui Kato’s mastery of the Iroe (colored overglaze) technique passed down for generations.

A Quiet Moment of Beauty
Whether for a formal tea ceremony or a simple cup of matcha at home, this Kyoto ceramic bowl enhances the moment with grace and calm.
Its serene palette and elegant design bring a refined stillness to any interior, reflecting the natural transition from winter to early spring.
The smooth surface and gentle weight make it an ideal piece to enjoy peaceful tea rituals inspired by the Japanese sense of season.

The Refined Art of Kyoto Overglaze Painting
Jyosui Kato carries forward the legacy of Edo-period Kyoto ceramics, depicting natural motifs with a soft color palette and delicate brushwork.
His works blend precision and emotion, capturing the spirit of traditional Japanese aesthetics and craftsmanship.
This hand-painted Kyoto matcha bowl makes a meaningful gift from Japan—a piece that brings quiet sophistication to both daily use and special occasions.
