Elegant Hand-painted Matcha Bowl from Kyoto
This hand-painted matcha bowl embodies the refined beauty of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware pottery. The gentle brushwork and warm colors evoke the peaceful charm of the Kyoto countryside in springtime.
Each stroke reflects the artist’s calm sensibility, capturing the tranquil atmosphere of blossoming cherry trees and traditional thatched-roof houses.
The softly rounded shape, formed on the potter’s wheel, highlights the delicate skill of Jyosui Kato and his mastery of the Iroe (colored overglaze) technique passed down through generations.

Bringing the Seasons into Your Everyday Life
Whether for a formal tea ceremony or a quiet afternoon at home, this Kyoto ceramic matcha bowl offers a moment of serenity with each use.
Even when displayed, its soft colors and tranquil scenery add a gentle warmth to any interior, reminding one of the subtle beauty of spring in Japan.
The bowl’s comfortable, organic form rests naturally in the hands—an ideal piece to accompany reflective moments of peace and tea.

The Beauty of Kyoto Overglaze Painting
Jyosui Kato continues the aesthetic tradition of Edo-period Kyoto pottery, blending naturalistic motifs with soft, elegant coloration.
His works depict scenes of nature and auspicious patterns through delicate brushstrokes that convey both craftsmanship and calm emotion.
This hand-painted matcha bowl makes a thoughtful gift from Kyoto, offering the timeless beauty of Japanese artistry.
