Elegant Hand-painted Matcha Bowl from Kyoto
This handmade Kyoto matcha bowl features a dynamic, hand-painted depiction of a carp swimming upstream—an auspicious symbol of strength, perseverance, and success in Japanese culture.
Each brushstroke captures the energy of flowing water and the spirit of the carp, reflecting the artist’s refined sense of movement and composition.
The soft curves shaped on the potter’s wheel harmonize beautifully with Jyosui Kato’s mastery of the Iroe (colored overglaze) technique, a hallmark of traditional Kyoto pottery.

Bringing Strength and Grace to the Tea Moment
Perfect for both formal tea gatherings and quiet moments at home, this Japanese ceramic bowl embodies vitality and calm elegance.
When displayed, its striking design and shimmering glaze create a serene yet powerful presence—ideal for spaces that celebrate renewal and growth.
The comfortable, rounded form sits gently in the hands, offering a tactile reminder of craftsmanship and tradition from Kyoto, Japan.

The Refined Art of Kyoto Overglaze Painting
Jyosui Kato carries forward the artistic spirit of Edo-period Kyoto ceramics, depicting natural motifs and auspicious symbols with elegant, controlled brushwork.
His delicate balance of vivid color and compositional grace reflects the enduring harmony of Japanese traditional art.
This hand-painted Kyoto matcha bowl makes a memorable gift from Japan—a token of encouragement and beauty for life’s milestones and new beginnings.
