From a Small Kiln That Creates Handmade Vessels

Dainichi Kiln is located near Kansyuji Temple in Kyoto.

Working together with his father, Shigeo Takemura, Yotaro Takemura creates vessels that respect the traditions of Kiyomizu-ware while fitting naturally into modern life.

Using glazes made from natural materials and careful handwork, each piece is crafted one by one in a quiet workshop nestled in the hills.

A Blue Gradient That Reflects the Sky and the Sea

The signature Blue Glaze series features a clear, luminous blue that feels as if it captures the sky and the sea within.

Based on a turquoise tone, the glaze flows and blends from pale light blue to deep indigo.

Each piece is finished entirely by hand, and the way the glaze spreads and the colors emerge differs from piece to piece—no two are ever exactly the same.

It is a beautiful vessel whose expression changes depending on the light and the angle from which you view it.

A Touch of the Extraordinary on Your Dining Table

Blue-glazed vessels pair beautifully not only with Japanese cuisine, but also with Western dishes.

The transparency and quiet presence of the vessel itself gently highlight the food, turning an everyday table into something a little more special.

A comforting feeling that gently loosens your mind each time you use it. Perfect for your own home, and also highly recommended as a gift.

Owner’s Comment

A beautifully balanced form framed in the shape of a plum blossom, with a clear blue gradient reminiscent of the sea.

It looks like an art piece, yet it is also highly practical and can be used comfortably on your everyday dining table.
