Brilliant Works Infused with the Tradition of Kyo Ware

Yu Takeuchi is an artist who creates works using traditional Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki techniques such as Kochi ware, sometsuke (underglaze blue), and ittchin mori (slip trailing).

Her work is characterized by vibrant colors, lustrous textures, and meticulously applied decorations down to the finest details. While inheriting traditional techniques, she expresses a unique worldview through approachable and playful designs.

Rich Expression Created by Skilled Techniques

By combining various techniques, such as the vibrant colors unique to Kochi ware and the ittchin technique of drawing patterns with raised lines, she creates expressions with depth.

Each piece, finished by hand, reflects years of cultivated skill and the craftsman's dedication.

Enjoy Kyoto Handicrafts

Yu Takeuchi's ceramics are brilliant yet easy to incorporate into daily life.

They add color to your dining table and tea time, and with each use, you can feel the charm of Kyoto's handcrafted artistry.

Comment from the Owner

This long plate features beautiful cherry blossoms in soft colors and a gracefully continuous arabesque pattern.

The lustrous texture unique to Kochi ware and the delicate expression created by raised lines add elegance to the entire piece.

It's the perfect size for serving grilled fish like saury, and it's a dish that will make your everyday dining table a little more special. It can also be used for seasonal dishes or as an appetizer plate.
