Cherishing the Simple Joys of Daily Life
In a quiet workshop in Yamashina, Kyoto, ceramic artist Miyuki Matoba creates tableware under her brand, nagusa.
The name nagusa reflects her vision of crafting pieces that blend effortlessly into everyday life, much like nameless wild grasses ("nagusa") growing naturally.
This philosophy is beautifully embodied in her charming and heartwarming creations.

Annande (安南手) is a traditional ceramic technique originating from Vietnam.
Each piece has unique glaze variations, creating organic textures that highlight the beauty of handmade pottery.
The bird motif is delicately hand-engraved and painted using gosu (a traditional blue pigment), giving it a soft, timeless charm.

After studying painting at university, Miyuki Matoba pursued ceramics in Kyoto.
The simple yet expressive bird illustration adds a sense of warmth and relaxation to tea time or everyday meals.
