Pair of handmade Annan Bird mugs - Kyoto Japanese pottery nagusa

Enjoy Everyday Moments with Your Favorite Mug

Treasure the Simple Joys of Daily Life.

This lovely pair is handcrafted by Miyuki Matoba of nagusa, a pottery studio based in Yamashina, Kyoto. She named her studio “nagusa,” meaning “nameless grass,” to express her wish to create ceramics that blend naturally into everyday life.

The result is a set of mugs filled with charm, designed to bring warmth and joy to the table.

Annan Bird white mug - handmade Kyoto pottery by Miyuki Matoba

The Annan style originates from Vietnam, known for its soft and expressive finish. Each piece shows unique color variations and gentle blurring, highlighting the true charm of handmade Japanese ceramics. After carving fine lines, gosu (blue pigment) is applied, resulting in a graceful and inviting look.
