Realistic, yet endearing.
Take a relaxing moment with your favorite cup.
Ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada runs his studio in the satoyama countryside of Nantan, Kyoto.
Surrounded by rich natural scenery, he creates pottery adorned with lifelike yet heartwarming animals.
Each piece is meticulously hand-formed and trimmed for comfort and functionality in your hand.
The soft, milky-white kohiki clay brings out the gentle texture that is unique to ceramics.

The warmth of handmade craftsmanship
The animal motifs are not painted on, but carved into the kohiki surface.
Each line is full of life, giving the pieces a unique warmth and expressive character.
Born to a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware potter, Sawada has been immersed in pottery since childhood and has already built over 20 years of experience.
In his 30s, he is already a seasoned artist with refined technique and vision.

With a fresh perspective and polished skills, Sawada creates pieces full of Kyoto originality. Bring a bit of his artistry into your daily life.
