Realistic yet irresistibly charming.
Take a relaxing moment with your favorite rice bowl.
In the peaceful countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates traditional handmade pottery inspired by nature.
Surrounded by rich natural landscapes, Sawada’s work features lifelike yet warm animal motifs that add charm to each piece.
Each piece is carefully shaped by hand and carved for usability, ensuring that every bowl fits comfortably in your hands.
The soft, milky white kohiki glaze enhances the gentle, earthy texture unique to traditional Japanese ceramics.

Feel the warmth of handmade craftsmanship
The animal designs are not painted, but carved into the kohiki-glazed surface, creating movement and depth in each line.
This carving technique adds an artistic touch to the piece, giving it a unique and personal feel, with the warmth of traditional Kyoto pottery.
Born into a family of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware ceramic artists, Sawada has been surrounded by pottery since childhood, accumulating over 20 years of experience in the craft.
In his 30s, Sawada has already established himself as a master of the craft, known for his precision and innovation.

A special bowl for your everyday table
Combining youthful creativity with refined skills, Sawada produces pottery full of originality, uniquely reflecting the spirit of Kyoto.
We invite you to experience the charm of his handmade pottery and bring a touch of Kyoto's tradition into your daily life.
