Hand-carved pottery by Takanobu Sawada

Realistic, yet irresistibly charming.
Relax with your favorite cup in hand.

In the serene countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates his pottery surrounded by nature.

He brings to life animals that are realistic yet warm and expressive, blending artistry with an inviting gentleness.

Each piece is carefully shaped by hand and thoughtfully trimmed to ensure it fits comfortably in your hand.

The soft, milky-white *kohiki* glaze enhances the warm, organic feel that is unique to handmade ceramics.

Crafted with the warmth of a handmade touch

Rather than painted, the animal designs are carved by hand into the *kohiki* surface, revealing expressive lines full of movement.

Each line adds a sense of life and warmth, giving the piece a unique and charming personality.

The son of a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware potter, Sawada has been immersed in ceramics since childhood. Now in his 30s, he already boasts over 20 years of experience—a true craftsman with mastery beyond his years.
