Realistic, yet irresistibly charming.
Take a moment to relax with your favorite cup.
In the tranquil countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates his distinctive pieces surrounded by nature.
He is known for his animal motifs that are both realistic and endearing, full of warmth and personality.
Each piece is carefully hand-shaped, with a form carved for comfort and usability in the hand.
The soft, milky-white *kohiki* clay highlights the warm, organic character that only handmade pottery can offer.

Pottery with the Warmth of a Handmade Touch
The animal designs are not painted—they are carved directly into the kohiki surface, bringing each character to life through delicate linework.
Every stroke carries movement, giving the piece a unique sense of warmth and expression.
The son of a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware potter, Sawada has been surrounded by ceramics since childhood. Now in his 30s, he already boasts over 20 years of experience—a true craftsman in every sense.

Combining youthful sensibility with refined craftsmanship, Sawada creates pieces full of Kyoto character and originality.
We invite you to experience the charm of his work in your daily life.
