Realistic, yet full of charm.
Take a moment of peace with your favorite cup.
From his workshop nestled in the countryside of Nantan City, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates traditional Japanese pottery featuring realistic yet endearing animal motifs.
Surrounded by nature, Sawada handcrafts each piece with great care, refining the shape to ensure it feels natural and comfortable in your hands.
The soft, milky white *kohiki* glaze highlights the gentle texture that only handmade ceramic can offer—bringing warmth to everyday use.

Feel the Heart of Handcrafted Tradition
Rather than using a brush, the animal designs are carved directly into the *kohiki* surface, creating expressive textures and depth.
Each line is full of movement, adding warmth and character that reflect Sawada’s unique artistic vision.
Born into a family of Kyoto ceramicists—his father a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware potter—Sawada has been immersed in the world of pottery since childhood. With over 20 years of experience, he is already a master in his field despite being in his 30s.

Blending youthful creativity with refined skill, Sawada continues to craft handmade ceramics that express the heart of Kyoto’s tradition. Discover the joy of living with art that speaks to both the past and the present.
