Founded in 1917 (Taisho 6), Shunzan Kiln is a renowned Kyoto-based pottery workshop that preserves the traditional techniques of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware ceramics. While staying true to Japan’s rich ceramic heritage, the kiln also incorporates contemporary sensibilities to create unique and captivating works.

This piece is a true representation of traditional Japanese pottery, showcasing a reproduction of the famous design by the Edo-period master, Ogata Kenzan, known for his elegant and artistic ceramics.

 

Ogata Kenzan, a master potter from the Edo period, is regarded as the founder of Kiyomizu-ware. This reproduction of Kenzan's famous designs brings a touch of traditional Japanese artistry to modern-day ceramics, crafted with the utmost skill and care.
