Shunzan Kiln, Handed Down in Sennyu-ji Temple, Kyoto

Shunzan Kiln was founded in 1917 at the foot of Sennyu-ji Temple in Higashiyama, Kyoto.

While inheriting the traditions of Kiyomizu ware, the kiln continues to create vessels that highlight the beauty of painting and ornamentation, drawing inspiration from seasonal flowers and plants and classical designs.

Each chawan (matcha bowl), handcrafted one by one, possesses the delicate elegance characteristic of Kyoto ceramics, allowing you to enjoy various expressions depending on the viewing angle.

Even though it is ornate, it is not overly so, and the soft texture of the clay and glaze is preserved, which gives a sense of the refined elegance characteristic of Shunzan Kiln.
