Tea Ceramic Artist: Kaifū Yagi

Born in 1950 in Yamashiro, Kyoto.

After completing his studies at the Kyoto Prefectural Ceramic Training School, he apprenticed under the first-generation ceramic artist Josui Kato.

Specializing in traditional Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware tea ceramics, he has received numerous awards at major ceramic art exhibitions.

In 2003, he was officially recognized as a Traditional Craftsman of Kiyomizu Ware.

He continues to create pottery at his studio in Yamashiro-Taga, Kyoto.

Owner’s Comment

The gentle scene of hana-ikada—floating cherry blossoms drifting across the water—is softly expressed through delicate sakura petals. The warm, ceramic texture is accented by restrained touches of gold, adding subtle refinement without overpowering the design.
