Realistic yet charming.
Take a relaxing moment with your favorite cup.

In the countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates traditional Japanese pottery surrounded by nature.

His handmade pieces feature animals rendered with a lifelike touch, yet full of warmth and personality.

Each item is carefully shaped by hand, with thoughtful finishing that ensures a comfortable feel in the hand.

The soft, milky white finish of the kohiki glaze highlights the natural texture unique to traditional Japanese ceramics.

Feel the warmth of handmade craftsmanship

The animal designs are not painted, but carved directly into the kohiki-glazed surface, creating a distinctive texture and depth.

Each line carries movement and emotion, expressing the artist’s unique touch and storytelling.

Sawada, born to a father who is also a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware ceramic artist, has been surrounded by pottery since childhood and now has over 20 years of experience.

Now in his 30s, he is already considered a seasoned artist with expert craftsmanship.

Blending refined skills with a youthful spirit, Sawada creates one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect the beauty and tradition of Kyoto.

Bring his work into your daily life and experience the charm of Japanese handmade pottery for yourself.
