Realistic yet irresistibly charming.
Take a relaxing moment with your favorite cup.
In the serene countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates traditional Japanese pottery surrounded by rich natural beauty.
His handmade pieces feature animals depicted in a lifelike yet endearing style, blending craftsmanship with warmth.
Each item is carefully shaped and thoughtfully carved for everyday usability, fitting comfortably in your hand.
The soft milky-white tone of the kohiki glaze highlights the gentle, earthy texture unique to traditional Japanese ceramic ware.

Crafted with warmth and care
Rather than painted on, the animals are etched directly into the kohiki-glazed surface, giving each line depth and movement.
This expressive carving technique adds both personality and a strong sense of artistry to each piece.
As the son of a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware ceramicist, Sawada has been immersed in traditional Japanese pottery since childhood, now with over 20 years of experience.
In his 30s, he has already achieved a level of mastery recognized by collectors and enthusiasts alike.

With refined techniques and a fresh artistic spirit, Sawada’s work expresses the rich culture and originality of Kyoto.
Discover how his handmade creations can bring a gentle touch of Japan’s traditional ceramic artistry into your daily life.
