Realistic yet irresistibly charming.
Take a relaxing moment with your favorite vessel.
Located in the picturesque countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates pottery surrounded by nature’s beauty.
His pieces feature lifelike yet warm animal designs, each piece crafted with care to embody both beauty and functionality.
Each vessel is meticulously hand-formed, with thoughtful consideration given to how it feels in your hands.
The soft, milky-white kohiki glaze enhances the gentle texture that only traditional ceramics can offer.
Feel the warmth of handmade craftsmanship
The animal motifs are not painted but are carved directly into the kohiki clay, creating a unique depth and movement in each line.
This technique brings out both the artistic expression and the warmth that makes each piece one-of-a-kind.
With over 20 years of experience, Sawada, who comes from a family of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware artists, has honed his skills and mastered his craft at a young age.
Now in his 30s, he’s already considered a seasoned and skilled artisan in the pottery community.

A special piece for your everyday table
With his youthful creativity and refined technique, Sawada creates original pieces filled with the essence of Kyoto’s pottery tradition.
Experience the charm of his work and bring a piece of Kyoto’s artistry into your daily life.
