Surrounded by nature, he creates pottery featuring animals that are both realistic and heartwarming.

Each piece is carefully shaped by hand, then trimmed to fit comfortably in the hand.

The soft, milky-white kohiki surface enhances the warm and gentle texture unique to earthenware.

The animal designs are not painted, but carved into the kohiki surface.

Each line has its own expression, bringing a sense of life and character to the piece.

Born into a family of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware artists, Sawada has been around pottery since childhood and has over 20 years of experience.

Now in his 30s, he is already a seasoned artisan with masterful technique.

With a refined sense and youthful spirit, Sawada creates pieces full of Kyoto’s distinct artistry. We invite you to bring that charm into your everyday life.
