Realistic, yet full of charm.
Take a peaceful moment with your favorite cup.
Ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada works from his studio nestled in the countryside of Nantan, Kyoto.
Surrounded by abundant nature, he creates pottery that features warm, lifelike depictions of animals.
Each piece is carefully hand-shaped and trimmed for ease of use when held in the hand.
The soft, milky-white kohiki clay enhances the warm, gentle texture that only pottery can offer.

Handmade warmth in every piece
The animal designs are not painted, but rather carved out of the kohiki surface.
Each line feels alive, creating a finish full of warmth and artistic individuality.
The son of a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware potter, Sawada grew up surrounded by ceramics and now has over 20 years of experience.
In his 30s, he already demonstrates the skill and presence of a seasoned artisan.

Blending youthful creativity with refined craftsmanship, Sawada brings forth uniquely Kyoto-inspired pieces. We hope you’ll experience their charm in your daily life.

This compact cup also works beautifully as a yunomi (tea cup).
Its size fits comfortably in your hand, and the gentle animal design brings a quiet sense of comfort.
