Realistic yet somehow adorable.
Take a break with your favorite cup.

Ceramic artist Takunobu Sawada has a studio in the satoyama (foothills) of Nantan City, Kyoto.

Surrounded by rich nature, he creates vessels featuring realistic yet warm animals.

Each piece is carefully shaped, and the form is carved with ease of use in mind when held.

The soft, milky white slipware base enhances the gentle texture unique to ceramics.

Vessels that exude the warmth of handmade craftsmanship

The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush, but are expressed by scraping away the slipware base.

Each line has movement, resulting in a unique and warm artistic quality.

Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto ware/Kiyomizu ware ceramic artist, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has already been making pottery for 20 years.

At just 30 years old, he is a craftsman with solid skills, having reached the level of a veteran.

Mr. Sawada, who combines youthful sensibility with refined techniques, creates original vessels unique to Kyoto.

Please feel their charm in your daily life.

Shop owner's comment

This plate is made using a time-consuming technique called "tatara," resulting in a flat and easy-to-use shape.

It's a versatile plate perfect for cakes, pastries, side dishes, or serving salads. You can never have too many of these convenient vessels.

Each piece, adorned with expressive animals, is a joy to behold.

Please find your favorite.
