Realistic, yet somehow endearing.
Take a moment to relax with your favorite cup.

Takunobu Sawada is a potter with a studio in the satoyama (foothills) of Nantan City, Kyoto.

Surrounded by rich nature, he creates vessels adorned with realistic yet warm depictions of animals.

Each piece is meticulously shaped, and its form is carved with ease of use in mind.

The soft, milky white kohiki glaze enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that convey the warmth of handcrafted work

The animal patterns are created not with a brush, but by scratching away the kohiki glaze.

Each line has movement, resulting in a unique and warm finish.

Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto ware potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has already been making pottery for 20 years.

He is a craftsman with solid skills who, in his 30s, has reached the level of a veteran.

Mr. Sawada combines a fresh sensibility with refined techniques to create unique vessels that are distinctly Kyoto.

Please experience their charm in your daily life.

Comment from the Owner

This is a very easy-to-use flat plate, shaped using the intricate "tatara" technique.

It's the perfect size for cakes, pastries, side dishes, or salads. It's a versatile plate that you'll want to have many of.

These pieces are a joy to look at, with their expressively drawn animals.

Please find your favorite.
