Elegant Pottery from Gojozaka, Kyoto

Kakouzan-kiln is located in Gojozaka, a historic area in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district known for its traditional Kiyomizu-ware pottery.

For four generations, this family-run kiln has carried on the legacy of handmade Japanese ceramics.

Each piece from Kakouzan-kiln blends the refined elegance of classic Kenzan-style pottery with a vibrant, graceful presence that is unmistakably Kyoto.

As if Blossoms Bloomed on the Surface

Each flower is delicately hand-painted using traditional Japanese pigments, with subtle shading that brings out a lifelike, three-dimensional beauty.

The result is a blooming expression of seasonal charm, enhanced by the soft texture of handmade ceramic and the warm tones of traditional color techniques.

This is a piece that brings a gentle touch of nature and tradition to your everyday table.

Owner's Comment

This plate is inspired by a famous piece from Ogata Kenzan, a celebrated ceramic artist of the Edo period.

The full bloom of cherry blossoms across the surface brings a festive and joyful feel to the piece.

It’s just the right size for a light meal—perfect for serving bread, fruit, cheese, or breakfast with a seasonal flourish.
