From a Small Kiln in Kyoto
Dainichi Kiln, located near Kansyuji Temple in Kyoto, is a family-run pottery studio.
Father Shigeo Takemura and his son Yotaro create works that honor the tradition of Kiyomizu-ware while blending naturally into modern life.
Each piece is carefully handmade in their quiet mountain workshop, using natural glazes and traditional techniques.

A Blue Glaze Inspired by Sky and Sea
The kiln’s signature Hekiyu (blue glaze) series captures the serene beauty of sky and sea within handmade ceramics.
From turquoise to pale aqua and deep indigo, the flowing glaze creates a natural gradient that makes every piece unique.
No two are ever the same—variations in the glaze and the way it catches the light give each item its own character and beauty.

Bringing a Touch of Elegance to the Table
The Hekiyu collection pairs beautifully not only with Japanese cuisine but also with Western dishes, highlighting flavors with subtle elegance.
The natural transparency and calm tones of the glaze turn an ordinary table into a special setting, elevating everyday moments.
Practical enough for daily use yet refined enough for gifting, this handmade Kyoto pottery is an ideal choice for both personal enjoyment and thoughtful presents.

A beautiful mug to look at, and wonderfully practical to use.
The larger size holds plenty, while the handle is easy to grip, making it a comfortable and reliable choice for everyday coffee or tea.
