Cherish the Beauty of Everyday Moments
With Your Favorite Tableware
In a quiet corner of Yamashina, Kyoto, ceramic artist Miyuki Matoba runs her studio, nagusa.
Inspired by the idea of creating tableware that blends seamlessly into daily life—like the nameless wild grasses ('nagusa')—she named her workshop with this vision in mind.
The result is a collection of delicate, heartwarming ceramics that exude simple charm.

Annande (安南手) is a ceramic technique with origins in Vietnam.
Each piece has unique variations in glaze bleeding and color transitions, making them feel truly one of a kind.
The bird motif is created using a method where lines are engraved and then painted with gosu (a traditional blue pigment), resulting in a soft, expressive finish.

Miyuki Matoba first studied painting at university before deepening her knowledge of ceramics in Kyoto.
Her elegantly simple bird illustrations bring a touch of warmth to teatime and everyday meals.
