Enjoy Everyday Moments with Your Favorite Tableware
Treasure the Simple Joys of Daily Life.
These plates are handcrafted by Miyuki Matoba of nagusa, a pottery studio in Yamashina, Kyoto. She named her studio “nagusa,” meaning “nameless grass,” to express her desire to create ceramics that blend naturally into daily life.
The result is a pair of small plates full of warmth and charm, perfect for daily dining and teatime.

The Annan style, originating from Vietnam, is known for its soft and expressive finish. Each piece shows unique glaze variations and subtle blurring, reflecting the beauty of handmade Japanese ceramics. After carving fine lines, gosu (blue pigment) is applied, giving a delicate, gentle expression.

Matoba studied fine arts at university and later trained in ceramics in Kyoto. Her simple line-drawn bird motifs bring peace and warmth to teatime and everyday meals.
