Cherishing the Simple Joys of Daily Life
In a quiet studio in Yamashina, Kyoto, ceramic artist Miyuki Matoba creates tableware under her brand, nagusa.
The name nagusa reflects her vision of crafting pieces that seamlessly blend into everyday life, much like nameless wild grasses ("nagusa") growing naturally in the world.
This philosophy is beautifully embodied in her charming, heartwarming creations.

Annande (安南手) is a traditional ceramic technique originating from Vietnam.
Each piece has its own unique glaze bleeding and color transitions, capturing the organic beauty of handmade pottery.
The bird motif is hand-engraved and painted using gosu (a traditional blue pigment), creating a soft and expressive finish.

Miyuki Matoba studied painting at university before pursuing ceramics in Kyoto.
The simple yet charming bird illustrations bring a sense of warmth and relaxation to tea time or daily meals.
