From a small pottery studio that produces handmade pottery

Dainichi Kiln is a pottery factory located near Kanshuji Temple in Kyoto.

The tableware that Yotaro creates together with his father, Takemura Shigeo, is in keeping with the traditions of Kiyomizu ware, yet is also easily adapted to modern life.

Each piece is carefully crafted by hand using glazes that make the most of natural materials in a quiet mountain workshop.

A blue gradation that reflects the sky and sea

His signature work, the Hekiyu series, is striking for its clear blue, as if capturing the sky or the sea.

The glaze flows and blends from pale blue to deep indigo, with a turquoise base.

All pieces are hand-finished, and the glaze bleeding and color development vary, so no two pieces are alike.

This is a beautiful piece of pottery whose appearance changes depending on the light and angle it hits.
