Realistic yet irresistibly charming.
Take a relaxing moment with your favorite cup.
Deep in the countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates traditional Japanese pottery inspired by nature’s beauty.
His work features animals with realistic detail and warmth, lovingly carved into each handmade piece.
Each form is thoughtfully shaped for everyday comfort, refined with careful trimming to fit naturally in your hands.
The soft milky-white kohiki glaze enhances the gentle, organic character of traditional Japanese ceramic ware.

Feel the warmth of handmade craftsmanship
The animals aren’t painted with a brush, but carved directly into the kohiki-glazed surface—an expressive process that gives each line vitality and movement.
This unique approach infuses each piece with personality and the heartfelt artistry that defines traditional Kyoto pottery.
Sawada, whose father is a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware ceramic artist, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has over 20 years of experience creating ceramics.
Now in his 30s, he has achieved a high level of craftsmanship rarely seen at his age.
With both refined technique and a fresh creative vision, Sawada crafts original pieces that express the essence of Kyoto's traditional ceramic culture.
We invite you to bring the charm of his handmade pottery into your everyday life and experience the beauty of Japan’s craftsmanship.
