Realistic yet irresistibly charming.
Take a relaxing moment with your favorite cup.

In the peaceful countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates handmade pottery inspired by the natural surroundings of Japan.

His work features lifelike animal motifs, delicately balanced with a sense of warmth and playfulness.

Each piece is carefully hand-shaped and carved to ensure not only beauty but comfort in the hand—perfect for everyday use.

The gentle texture of the milky-white kohiki glaze brings out the soft charm that only traditional ceramic ware can offer.

Feel the warmth of handmade craftsmanship

Rather than painting, the animal designs are carved directly into the kohiki-glazed surface. Each line carries a sense of motion and gentle expression.

This technique adds a tactile charm to each cup, making every piece feel like a small work of art steeped in Kyoto’s traditional ceramic heritage.

Born into a family of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware artisans, Sawada has been involved in pottery since childhood and now has more than 20 years of experience.

Though still in his 30s, he is already regarded as a seasoned ceramic artist with exceptional technique.

Combining youthful creativity with refined skills, Sawada brings to life original handmade pieces that express the spirit of Kyoto’s ceramic tradition.

We invite you to discover the joy of incorporating this warmth and artistry into your everyday life.
