Located in the rural heartland of Nantan City, Kyoto, Takunobu Sawada runs his pottery studio, preserving the beauty of the natural surroundings.

This series features realistic yet warm and inviting animal illustrations, all crafted by Sawada.

Each piece is carefully shaped by hand and smoothed for practicality, finished with a soft, milky-white glaze that retains the rustic charm of traditional pottery.

 

 

The animal designs are not painted with a brush but are instead carved into the clay, adding a unique touch and warmth to each piece.

Takunobu Sawada, the son of a Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-ware potter, has been passionate about ceramics since his childhood. With 20 years of experience, he is now in his 30s and has established himself as a skilled artisan.

With a fresh, youthful sensibility and exceptional technique, Sawada creates pottery full of originality. We invite you to experience his unique creations.
