Realistic, yet somehow endearing.
Take a moment to relax with your favorite cup.

Takunobu Sawada is a potter who has a studio in the satoyama (traditional Japanese countryside) of Nantan City, Kyoto.

Surrounded by rich natural scenery, he creates pottery adorned with warm, realistic depictions of animals.

Each piece is carefully shaped, and its form is carved with ease of use in mind.

The soft, milky white slipware (kohiki) clay enhances the gentle texture unique to ceramics.

Pottery with a handmade warmth

The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush, but are expressed by scratching off the kohiki (slipware) base.

Each line has movement, resulting in a finish that conveys unique artistry and warmth.

Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto-ware (Kyo-yaki/Kiyomizu-yaki) potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and already has 20 years of experience in pottery making.

At just 30 years old, he is a craftsman with solid skills that have reached the level of a veteran.

Sawada, with his fresh sensibility and refined skills, creates unique Kyoto-style pottery.

Please experience its charm in your daily life.
