Realistic, yet somehow endearing.
Take a moment to relax with your favorite cup.

Takanobu Sawada is a ceramic artist with a studio in the satoyama (foothills) of Nantan City, Kyoto.

Surrounded by rich natural scenery, he creates pottery featuring animals that are realistic yet warm.

Each piece is carefully molded, with a form sculpted for ease of use in your hand.

The soft, milky white kohiki (powdered clay) base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that convey the warmth of handwork

The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush, but rather expressed by scraping away the kohiki (powdered clay) base.

Each line has movement, resulting in a finish that conveys unique artistry and warmth.

Takanobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto-ware/Kiyomizu-ware ceramic artist, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and already has 20 years of experience in pottery making.

At 30 years old, he is a craftsman with solid skills, reaching the level of a veteran.

Sawada-san combines a fresh sensibility with refined technique to create highly original vessels unique to Kyoto.

Please experience their charm in your daily life.
