Takunobu Sawada is a potter with a studio in the satoyama (foothills) of Nantan City, Kyoto.

Surrounded by rich nature, he creates vessels with warm, realistic animal motifs.

Each piece is carefully shaped, and the form is carved to ensure ease of use when held.

The soft, milky white slip-glazed earthenware enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that convey the warmth of handcrafted work

The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush, but expressed by scratching away the slip-glazed surface.

Each line has movement, resulting in a unique and warm finish.

Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto ware/Kiyomizu ware potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has already been creating pottery for 20 years.

At just 30 years old, he is a highly skilled craftsman who has reached the level of a veteran.

Mr. Sawada, who combines youthful sensibility with refined technique, creates highly original vessels unique to Kyoto.

We invite you to experience their charm in your daily life.
