The soft appearance unique to Raku ware
Raku ware matcha bowls are vessels born from Kyoto's tea ceremony, which has a history of approximately 400 years.
Shaped by hand without using a potter's wheel, each piece has a natural, gentle undulation.
The soft texture, fired at a low temperature, and the warmth that can be felt in your hands.
The changing texture with use is also a unique charm of Raku ware.

Gentle painting with colored clay
Raku-nyu's matcha bowls are decorated with "namazuke," where patterns are painted directly onto the clay before firing.
By painting with colored clay instead of pigments, a soft, subdued color and a subtle three-dimensional effect are created.
This gentle style of painting is only possible with low-fired Raku ware.
Seasonal motifs and charming designs naturally blend into tea ceremonies as well as everyday moments.

For tea ceremonies and daily enjoyment
While valuing the ease of use as a tea utensil, it can also be enjoyed as a casual bowl.
You can use it as a seasonal vessel when preparing matcha at home.
Not only when in use, but also when placed, it adds a soft touch of color to the space.

A word from the owner
This is a Raku-nyu matcha bowl with a majestic Mt. Fuji depicted on a brilliant red Raku background.
With a soaring hawk and an eggplant painted on the inside (mikomi), it expresses the auspicious "Ichi Fuji, Ni Taka, San Nasubi" (First Fuji, Second Hawk, Third Eggplant).
It is a delightful piece where the warmth of Raku ware harmonizes with auspicious designs suitable for New Year celebrations and festive occasions.
