Exquisite Decoration Reminiscent of Japanese Painting

Since ancient times, the phoenix has been regarded as a symbol of good fortune and peace, and this auspicious bird has been depicted countless times in paintings and crafts.

Drawing on a traditional theme with a unique sensibility, the artist expresses its graceful form through delicate brushwork and shimmering gold. The striking contrast between the black background and gold decoration gives the entire vessel a sense of depth and narrative reminiscent of Japanese painting.

Shop Owner's Comment

This is a matcha bowl by Aki Takahashi depicting two phoenixes dancing across a lustrous black surface.

The artist has meticulously rendered two phoenixes soaring gracefully toward a moon depicted in gold. The vivid colors of the phoenixes and the radiance of the moon emerge beautifully from the surface, which evokes a jet-black night sky, creating a mystical scene.

A gorgeous and elegant bowl that expresses the phoenix, long cherished as a sacred bird of good fortune, within a grand world reminiscent of Japanese painting.
