Artist Profile
Noboru Yamaoka
Born in Mie Prefecture in 1942.
Graduated from Kyoto Ceramic Training School in 1959.
Trained for ten years under Zenjiro Ueyama.
Established his own studio “Yamaoka Togakuen” in 1969 and received the artist name “Yamaoka Noboru.”
Exhibited at the 1990 International Garden and Greenery Exposition (Expo ’90).
Selected three times for the Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware Exhibition.
Accepted at the 1992 Tanko Biennale Tea Art Competition.
Received the Kyoto Mayor’s Award at the Kyoto Overglaze Enamel Ceramic Art Exhibition in 1998.
Recipient of the Kyoto Governor’s Award three times, and multiple awards at the Kyoto Craft Design Competition.
