Owner’s Comment
This matcha bowl depicts Chōmai, a butterfly dance motif from traditional Noh theater.
The butterfly is paired with the celestial maiden who governs peach blossoms, a symbol of longevity and auspicious fortune in Japanese culture.
The glossy surface and raised slip-trailing (itchin) technique bring a dignified brilliance to the design.
A refined and graceful piece by Ichinyo Yamamoto—expressing both elegance and festive splendor in the spirit of Kyoto’s ceramic tradition.
